Comedy legend cancels tour dates, says he caught COVID at ‘SNL’ anniversary special – NJ.com

Martin, 79, noted in an Instagram post on Thursday that his comedy brother-in-arm, Martin Short, 74, caught COVID-19 after “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary special occurred. Martin also performed the opening monologue during the 50th anniversary event, and Short joined him.Martin noted fellow comedian and actor Maya Rudolph also had the virus. “Maya had Covid. Marty has Covid. I wonder why? The SNL 50th Covid curse is real,” wrote Martin on Instagram. The photo shows Short and Rudolph sharing a kiss between friends during the anniversary special taping. Rudolph has not stated if she also contracted the virus. Martin then delivered bad news for fans hoping to catch their immediate shows on “The Dukes of Funnytown Tour.”“Unfortunately, we have to reschedule our sold-out Durham and Knoxville dates to 10/17 Knoxville and 10/18 Durham,” Martin noted. “So sorry for the inconvenience.
