‘Spider-Man 4’ Release Date Pushed to Late July 2026, Avoids ‘Odyssey’ – Hollywood Reporter

Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 is going to take slightly longer to swing into theaters.
Sony Pictures announced Friday that the Marvel superhero’s next feature is now set for theatrical release on July 31, 2026, a week later than previously scheduled. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is helming the movie that is currently untitled.
This change gives the project extra distance from the release of director Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey, which also stars Holland and hits theaters July 17, 2026. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron round out the star-studded cast for Universal’s feature adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.

Also currently set for release on July 31, 2026, is Paramount’s animated feature Paw Patrol 3.
Holland was last seen onscreen as the heroic web-slinger in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which surpassed $1.9 billion at the global box office. That film was helmed by Jon Watts, who also directed Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna penned the new Spider-Man film after previously writing No Way Home.
Disney’s Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters last week as the latest feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony, which controls the film rights to Spider-Man, arranged a partnership with Disney in 2015 to allow the popular character to join the MCU.
Up next for Marvel fans is Thunderbolts in May, followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps, hitting theaters July 25 from Disney. Next year brings the planned release of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
