OnePlus Watch 3 launches with five-day battery life, health updates, Wear OS 5 for $329 – 9to5Google

Following a successful reboot of its smartwatch last year, the OnePlus Watch 3 has now arrived with some key upgrades, including even longer battery life, Wear OS 5, and more, all for $329.OnePlus Watch 2 was a great Wear OS smartwatch not just because it was adequately powered and had solid hardware, but because it tried something new. Using a new dual-chipset and dual-OS setup, the smartwatch could use Wear OS for apps and features while offloading the simple tasks to a low-power OS and, in turn, save a lot of power and extend battery life. The OnePlus Watch 3 is built around that same idea. This latest OnePlus Watch firstly delivers an updated design. The new look is a bit sleeker compared to what came before, but with the same asymmetric design for the stainless steel chassis. The bezel is now made from titanium, and the larger 1.5-inch screen is still covered in sapphire glass. The bigger hardware improvement is to the crown/power button, which now rotates with a purpose, as it can be used to scroll the UI throughout Wear OS. OnePlus Watch 3 is not a small smartwatch, measuring in at 46.6 x 47.6 x 11.75mm. Without a strap, it weighs 49.7g. There are two main variants, with “Obsidian Titanium” having a darker black bezel, while “Emerald Titanium” has a lighter silver chassis and bezel. Neither variant is actually made from titanium outside of the display bezel. In the software department, OnePlus Watch 3 is running Wear OS in tandem with a custom RTOS. Like the previous generation, the RTOS is what you’ll deal with for notifications and watch faces and other low-power tasks, while Wear OS will enable more features and apps. Some new features include video watch faces and a new remote control feature for paired OnePlus devices, allowing users to control and scroll through videos playing on their phone from their watch.Under the hood is a Snapdragon W5+ chipset, a slightly upgraded BES2800 chip for RTOS, 32GB of storage, and a 631 mAh battery which is over 26% larger than what was in the previous generation. OnePlus says that its “Smart” battery mode will deliver up to 120 hours (5 days) of battery life on a charge. That will vary depending on your watch face and other use factors, though. The bulk of the changes on OnePlus Watch 3 come in the form of health upgrades, with OnePlus leveraging its new “Health Lab” to push forward what its smartwatches can do for health tracking. This starts with a new sensor array that includes a wrist temperature sensor, an 8-channel optical heart rate sensor, and a 16-channel pulse oximeter sensor. The heart rate sensor can now be enabled to run continuously for real-time stats, with new support for tracking your Vascular Health and taking ECG measurements. Another new feature is the “60-Second Health Check-In,” which takes a snapshot of your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, “mental wellness,” wrist temperature, sleep quality, and your “vascular age” to offer some quick insights on what OnePlus describes as the “most critical areas of interest.” This will be available in Q2 2025, without ECG for those in the US.OnePlus adds that Watch 3 features improved sleep monitoring, over 100 different sports modes, and the OHealth app has been updated with new ways to show metrics including Sleep Trends Analysis and Heart Rate Trends.OnePlus Watch 3 is available for pre-order starting today for $329 in the US. Orders will start shipping on February 25.Follow Ben: Twitter/X, Threads, Bluesky, and InstagramFTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.
