There, he will be partnered with Detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. The series is on track to debut on CBS during the 2025-26 TV season.Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis (both of The Blacklist and L.A.’s Finest, as well as Alert: MPU) will serve as showrunners and executive-produce alongside Wahlberg, Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed.

Tracker Solves Gina Picket Case in Midseason Premiere ‚Äî Grade It According to Deadline, which first reported on Boston Blue, this series was not conceived as a Blue Bloods spin-off; the only Wahlberg-led offshoot that had been pitched (but was passed on) would have transplanted Danny to Texas. Rather, Sonnier and Margolis had developed a series that would follow a family of cops in Boston whose eldest daughter is partnered with a new transfer from LAPD. The NYPD’s Danny is now that transfer.Boston Blue marks the latest of many spinoffs currently in the CBS/Paramount pipeline. Fire Country has already spawned Sheriff Country (starring Morena Baccarin and debuting during the 2025-26 TV season) and potentially a Jared Padalecki-led Fire Country: Surfside; The Neighborhood has not one but two offshoots in the works, the former of which is earmarked for Paramount+; The Equalizer just cast a spinoff that will air as a backdoor pilot this season; an FBI: CIA backdoor pilot will air as a spingtime episode of FBI; and the NCIS-verse’s latest addition, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, is expected to premiere on Paramount+ this year.CBS’ Blue Bloods series finale averaged 6.7 million total viewers (according to VideoAmp Overnight data), which marked a Season 14 high for the family/cop drama (including the 10 episodes that aired February through May). The series’ swan song wound up amassing a 35-day multi-platform audience of 11 million. Blue Bloods‘ fall run averaged 7.9 million total viewers (with delayed playback), down 15% from Season 14A but still good enough to rank No. 4 out of the broadcast dramas that aired this past fall.Comments are monitored, so don‚Äôt forkin’ curse and don‚Äôt bore us with how much your coworker‚Äôs sister-in-law makes per hour. Δcue the complaints from Blue Blood-stansare Blue Blood-stans as bad as NCIS Hawaii-stans?Infinitely worse. Someone is bound to complain that CBS should have instead given Blue Bloods anothers season.I’d argue the Hawaii-stans are worse. No matter how much evidence to the contrary is presented, they still insist it was cancelled for NCIS: Sydney. I think part of it is now that Tony & Ziva have their own show they can’t begin every post with “We Want Tiva!”I thought they were insisting that it was cancelled for Origins? Both honestly. Origins is probably the actual reason. Certainly not Sydney. Still pissed about Hawaii’s cancelation. Especially considering CBS seems to be greenlighting nothing but spinoffs and offshoots of established franchises. I get it, known entities, but still, creativity seems to be dead on network tv. As for this Boston iteration, I hope they actually film there, being a Boston bred girl.I am. It definitely wasn’t cancelled for Sydney.Blue Bloods-stans often fail to understand the economics of long-running shows. Many of them assumed that because Blue Bloods had high viewership numbers it also meant it was profitable. They ignore the fact that production costs rise every year a show is on the air. Moreover, they insist that Blue Blood’s ad revenue must have been “bigly,” high enough to offset said production costs. When people tell Blue Blood-stans that advertisers only really pay up for shows that have high viewership numbers in the key “demographic,” 18-to-30s crowd, their cognitive dissonance takes hold & they double down. Look, I appreciate the fact that CBS found it in their hearts, and wallets, to continue the Blue Bloods universe for their fans. THIS IS A WIN. I just wish Blue Blood-stans would see it this way too. Instead, they’re out complaining…Blue Bloods could’ve probably kept going if there was cast turnover like other shows to keep the budget down. But none of the “starring” actors or “also starring” actors ever left. The only two long-term actors of note to leave the show went from guest stars to also starring to starring, then quit. Donnie Wahlberg went from $60,000 per episode to $150,000. When everyone is getting raises and no one leaves, that adds up over a decade.Additionally, the “family dinner” scene meant that everybody had to be in every episode which is even more costly. If you watch some of the longer running CBS procedurals, you will notice that many episodes have a star or two missing (oh, Johnny is at a training seminar or Barb is with her ill Mother, or whatever). They don’t have to pay that cast member for the episode, which saves money. Not sure if they are worse but I will be curious why he transfers. Danny from Blue Bloods was about his job and family , hard to imagine he was just pick up and move and leave them both. Not to mention the whole Baez of it all.
I could understand the Texas move. The friendship he built with that Texas Ranger and the cartel being responsible for his wife’s death.Tom Sellick to be exact. I’m sure he’s pissed he’s not getting a check from this.Tom was afraid he might have to sell his ranch, now that BB is done. I wonder if he’s considered a reverse mortgage? If he has to sell his ranch at his age after decades of working, including 14 straight with Blue Bloods, than he doesn’t deserve it.Of course they should ! Why cancel a program to make a spin off that will only last a few seasons lol just as u think ohh this is good they cancel that to ! If it ain‚Äôt broke don‚Äôt fix it lol nothing to do with the channel here in uk we get it on sky witness üòÇI honestly don‚Äôt care who makes itI’ve seen Hawaii fans say they’ve never watching another NCIS till Hawaii is back or actively gloating that Origins raitings are lower than Hawaii’s were.Well this is a TV news site where people are allowed to air their opinions so…..i voiced mine.I wonder where this leaves his relationship with Baez? Would be a shame if they’re already broken up. But I’m happy for Donnie Wahlberg, that he can continue to play this role he loves.Putting them together was dumb to begin with… pure fan service as they never shown any hint of romantic connection in all the years they worked together.. Men and women can just be friends/partners without having to hook up.or not in the case of danny’s brother…They had much more romantic chemistry from the start… and having both of them get involved with partners is just sillyIf this is indeed true, it would make me extremely happy. Donnie deserves to be a lead in a new show. He’s a great actor and fun to watch. It’s true, likely an all Bruckheimer Friday night with Sheriff Country & Fire CountrySWAT chances of getting renewed don’t look good now after this newsmuch as I like SWAT the show has ran its course. Last season could have been a perfect finale had Shemar not gone on that tirade. Frankly the new kids just don‚Äôt click Powell is still obnoxious, Alfredo is like a Street knockoff minus the charm, and whatshername a cop with a bad rep from the wrong side of the city like that hasn‚Äôt already been done.I’m with you on this. The show is running on fumes. If it gets cancelled, it does not deserve to be resurrected a third time.Is any opinions on a swat spinoff? That would have been a discussion of the last couple few seasons. That was exactly my thought. This will replace SWAT. I really like SWAT, but at least it got 2 extra seasons.Yes, this is one drama spot taken. A Jared Padalecki show looks to take another 2025-26 drama spot, as CBS is courting JP for 2 shows (a dr drama or Fire Country second spinoff). Good luck to existing dramas. The thing that made Blue Bloods so successful was the Reagan family dynamic. This could work but why not just do contract negotiations and continue with the mother ship. I’m sure it boils down to money, but still seems stupid. Just my 2-cents.Exactly. Now we are just supposed to get attached to a new family that so happens to also all be in law enforcement. Are they also going to sit around the table for dinner? It just feels like a knock off. If anything a spin-off starring the nephew, Joe Hill, should have been ordered. It would really give the viewers more to explore with his character.I guess the teased potential relationship with Baez went no where thenWasn‚Äôt a fan of them as a couple so I‚Äôm okay with that. It seemed so forced. They were better as friends.Unless she comes over with him.CBS finally has its Blue Bloods spinoff! And they’re not stopping there. Spinoffs are in the works for FBI, The Neighborhood and The Equalizer and a Fire Country spinoff debuts this fall. How long before they announce a Tracker spinoff? If not for spinoffs and reboots would the network exist?!CBS = Columbia Broadcasting Spinoffs‘Cancels Best Series’ stationCBS might as well change the name of the network to IPBS.That‚Äôs a great line right there. What reason could they give that Danny would leave the NYPD and his family? There‚Äôs not much they could say that would seem legit.Well to be fair his boys are in college and jobs change, people move on. I don’t see it as that far fetched really. They say he’s transferred from LAPD and still is Danny Reagan. Makes no sense. Let him transfer from NYPD where he was.Read the story again‚Ķ it was conceived as a transfer from LAPD then producers decided to cast Donnie and make the transfer be Danny Reagan from NYPD.+75 TVLine Power User points (no cash value)Hopes this shoots in Boston – “Spencer:For Hire” in the 1980’s made Boston look great – shooting in Boston, as well as surounding urban-looking cities to create “The Perfect Boston”….Those were 3 great Seasons, and the later Spin-off films only shot second unit in Boston and you can tell Toronto From Boston, and the A&E films did not Shooting in Boston…Boston was the hook to get Donnie to sign on. Although the basic concept before tying in BLUE BLOODS was soild.I hope Donnie gets this new show as well as the rest of the blue blood crew! I love Donnie. I pray he’s always on TV and in a show!I‚Äôm very happy about the spinoff ‚ÄúBoston Blue‚Äù. I love Donnie Wahlberg and his character Danny. I will miss the Regans and all of the family members. But they won‚Äôt bring Blue Bloods back so I‚Äôm glad we will at least get this.Well, I suspect he will be stopping at Wahlburgers a lot now!I guess it’s better than a show about Donnie Wahlberg moving to Boston to open a hamburger chain.THAT would be awesome :-)So the kid from Boston is going to play a New York cop who transfers to Boston.…and eating at Wahlburgers!Well, I guess he will be stopping at Wahlburgers a lot now!And yet it was cancelled!oh, if we lose NCIS: ORIGINS, this isn’t a bad replacement…I hope not. I love that showYeah can hardly wait.üëèüèªüëèüèªIt would be even better if they had brought back Angie Harmon ( Rizzoli ) to be his partner.RIZZOLI & REAGANDidn’t Donnie play a Boston Detective who worked with Rizzoli in the first season?Love Angie Harmon also maybe another Boston native Eliza Dushku she‚Äôs kind of retired from acting, but I will have to bring her back. I don‚Äôt know if she would want to work for cbs after all that she went through with them. Maybe also former Ncis:La a actress,Daniela RuahYou never should have taken Blue Bloods off in the first place! He’s the least enjoyable of the OG cast for me. I don’t mind the actor at all, but his character irked me because he skated around the rules quite frequently. And I don’t buy that he’d just leave his family and move to Boston on his own. I’m sure there will be people that enjoy it and that’s great, but it’s not for me as of right now. Maybe the first trailer will catch my interest. This man’s side gig is NKOTB lol. WildNot what I expected. We all love Donnie Wahlberg, but he wasn’t why I watched Blue Bloods. I guess we’ll see what yet another cop show has to offer that’s different. This will help Fridays keep good ratings.Could someone explain what the meaning of the “backup scripts” is in the Deadline article reporting? Just curious what that means exactly, were those scripts based on the original concept without Danny (before he said yes?) or what?CBS asked to see Boston Blue scripts beyond the pilot, while DW mulled his decision. So those scripts would then have been based on the new concept with the character as Danny *after* they were approached about changing it? I know it probably doesn’t make much difference now and it can all change before it actually films anyway, but still curious to understand the order of things. “Backup” sounded like it could still have been based on the original LAPD concept if he said no or something.I am a Blue Bloods diehard fan and Danny is my favourite! I can hardly wait. Well done and thank you. – Krystyna from Canada.By providing your information, you agree to our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
