Priced at $139.99 (€139.99), this will come with its own bespoke handheld unit that will play Tetris (Famicom) and Tetris 2 + BomBliss. Also included is an exclusive soundtrack CD, tetrimino magnets, woven patches, and a poster. This will all come housed in a fancy modular tetrimino box, and it honestly looks wonderful. The Making of Karateka and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter story will also receive special deluxe editions priced at $69.99 (€69.99) each. These will come with unique goodies specially selected for each title, and we’re really quite taken with the glasses and bandana in the Llamasoft physical edition. Groovy.Of course, if you’d rather just own the bog-standard edition of each game, these will be available at $34.99 (€34.99) each. Pre-orders will become available from 25th February 2025 from Atari’s website, Limited Run Games, and select retailers internationally. We’re big fans of all three titles from the Gold Master Series so far, awarding The Making of Karateka a score of 8/10, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story a score of 9/10, and Tetris Forever a score of 8/10.Plus a couple of welcome improvementsBig Brother is watching…What do you make of this? Honestly, the price for Tetris Forever seems pretty reasonable considering what you’re getting with it! He also enjoys long walks and listens to everything from TOOL to Chuck Berry.Comments 19Knowing LRG, the handheld will probably explode in your hands if you actually try to use it.Pretty cool, happy for those going for any of these – personally, I’ll just get the games themselves on Switch (in the case of Tetris Forever potentially physically depending on its availability here in Italy)!@Slobbert I’d have to double check, but I don’t believe this is a LRG production. It looks to be Clear River Games. LRG Is merely a distributor.I really need to get around to playing through Llamasoft and Tetris Forever. I’ve played Atari 50 and Making of Karateka and both are absolutely excellent. If it’s Clear River Games, that should mean it’s as easy as placing an Amazon UK order.I already wanted a Switch physical of Tetris Forever, but it including an exclusive handheld unit with a couple of Tetris games on it is seriously cool.A handheld for a single game…Surely this should have been an Evercade cart instead… SMH…I’ll pick up the Switch physical release(s), but that handheld is considerably more expensive than a Super Pocket! What an absolute waste of hardware!I’m a huge fan of Tetris and enjoyed Tetris Forever as an interactive documentary, but even I wouldn’t get that. 140€ is a lot for something that seems to be a novelty item. At the bare minimum, it should play all the games in Tetris Forever. Also important to note for those unaware that this version of Tetris is not the one Nintendo developed. In my opinion this version (the Famicom Tetris by BPS) is not nearly as good. The control scheme takes some getting used to for sure.Definitely interested in the regular physical edition of Tetris Forever. The goodies are quite unique and original, fans must be happy. I really love Tetris, but collecting this kind of things isn’t for me.@SillyG Realistically, the handheld is probably just one of those “retro handhelds” you see going for like $15-30 at most, where it’s just a Famiclone with a baked-in ROM.It probably doesn’t cost much to make at all, more money is probably spent just on making it a proper licensed product with a custom shell and some quality control.Locking that little unit in the collector’s box is foolish. I’d buy one to go with the Mario and Zelda G&W units, especially if it also had a desk clock function, but I’m not buying a bunch of other stuff especially the useless knickknacks to get it. But given the price point of everything together I’d guess it’s a generic low grade thing anyway.Didn’t LRG announce a physical release of The Making of Karateka a few years ago? Is this supposed to be the follow up to that announcement?I really just want the handheld console if it’s a good experience. It’s impossible to find a good handheld console Tetris. All of the ones on the market already use like 25% of the already tiny screen — this one included. It’s easier to just buy a DS (or some other Nintendo console) + Tetris.@KoopaTheGamer Although it includes Tetris 2 as well which is actually a very nice version! Love the music. And that means America gets the Josh Fairhurst special. Great…Very nice. I’ve been waiting to get a physical Tetris forever. Tetris is the perfect game. I can play it anywhere anytime.I’m a Tetris collector and very happy to have a physical option for Tetris Forever, but the price for the Collector’s Edition with the handheld is a bit steep. Plus, it’s just Famicom ROMs that are already available on the Nintendo Switch anyway…I hope this little Tetris handheld doesn’t have a sideways mounted TFT LCD screen like so many of the cheap handhelds do. Those things are brutal on the eyes. The fact that its missing the gameboy version is criminal.Who keeps granting LRG (whose spelling I’m just realizing almost sound like “allergy”) publishing rights for Tetris games?Tetris is a series still worthy of owning physically, but I don’t want to be conditioned to LRG releases. At the very least I hope their release of Tetris Forever includes Welltris, which was added via an update.
