(Christinne Muschi/The Canadian Press via AP)APDetroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the second period Saturday and the United States defeated Canada 3-1 at the 4 Nations Face-Off at the Bell Centre in Montreal.It was an exhilarating game marked by three fights in the first nine seconds.The U.S. (2-0-0-0, six points) clinched a spot in the championship game Thursday in Boston (8 p.m., ESPN).Team USA wraps up round-robin play against Sweden on Monday (8 p.m., TNT, TruTV). Canada faces Finland on Monday (1 p.m., TNT, TruTV). Both games at are Boston’s TD Garden.Canada, Finland and Sweden each have two points and are competing for the other spot in the title game.Larkin also set-up Jake Guentzel’s empty-net goal that put the U.S. up 3-1 with 1:19 remaining. It was Guentzel’s second goal of the game.Larkin scored at 13:33 of the second period, burying a shot past Jordan Binnington on a two-on-one.The tone was set right from the opening face-off when Team USA’s Matthew Tkachuk challenged Brandon Hagel to a fight. Tkachuk’s brother, Brady, then fought Sam Bennett after the ensuing face-off.On the next shift, USA’s J.T. Miller scrapped with Colton Parayko.Connor McDavid opened the scoring for Canada at 5:31 of the first, whipping a backhand shot past Connor Hellebuyck after speeding through the neutral zone.Guentzel tied it at 10:15 of the first, converting a pass from Jack Eichel.Finland 4, Sweden 3 (OT): Mikael Granlund scored at 1:49 of overtime as Finland bounced back from a 6-1 loss to the U.S. on Thursday. Granlund fired a shot between Linus Ullmark’s pads during a three-on-one break. Anton Lundell, Mikko Rantanen (power play) and Aleksander Barkov also scored for Finland. Mika Zibanejad, Rasmus Dahlin and Erik Karlson scored for Sweden.
