SEATTLE — After seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time in a year on Wednesday, crafting retailer Joann plans to shutter over 500 of its 800 U.S. locations.Wednesday’s announcement will include over 20 Washington state stores, including locations in Seattle, Tacoma and Everett.See the full list of Joann stores closing in Washington state below.The states with the most stores closing include California (61), Florida (36), Pennsylvania (33), Ohio (33) and Michigan (33). “Right-sizing the store footprint is a critical part of the efforts to ensure the best path forward for JOANN,” an update posted Wednesday on the case background said. In April 2024, the company completed a restructuring that saw it delisted from the U.S. stock exchange and become a private company as part of a bankruptcy deal.
