Anthony Mackie makes his standalone solo film debut with Sam Wilson taking up the mantle in Captain America: Brave New World and the consensus on this outing is in. Here’s what critics and pop culture commentators had to say about the Marvel Studios picture, ahead of the film’s release this Valentine’s Day.The answer is… well, decidedly mixed. Some people seem to be very much into the performances of Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford as Sam Wilson and Thaddeus Ross, respectively, but a lot of people seem to think that Marvel’s misguised era post-Endgame continues here. We’re all familiar with Marvel’s big green force of nature, but over the years there’s been a whole rainbow of Hulks.

It is certainly set in the world of the Marvel Universe, though. Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford star.

For generations Marvel has exported the idea of the national superhero around its globe in the wake of Captain America—but few have been as fraught as Captain America: Brave New World’s most controversial addition, Sabra.

After The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the Marvel star had some non-negotiable notes for his superhero outfit coming into Brave New World.

The Marvel team-up film starring Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Sebastian Stan hits theaters May 2.

If the trailer hype is any indication, Fantastic Four: First Steps may be another big event movie for Marvel.
