Obviously, it’s up and running now, but fans lost a full day of play, which isn’t ideal.Capcom, eager to make good on the situation, has promised that it’ll offer a further 24 hours of gameplay to make up for the outage.“To account for reduced OBT2 play time due to the outage, we are considering running OBT2 for an additional 24 hours at a future date,” it wrote on X (or Twitter). “Exact details and timing are TBD, so please stay tuned.”Every detail covering Monster Hunter Wilds Beta 2 revealedCurrently, the beta is scheduled to run until 7PM PT on 9th February. However, a second test will start at 7PM PT on 13th February and run until 7PM PT on 16th February. Our guess is that Capcom will just extend the test for an extra day, but we’ll obviously let you know as soon as we know its plans. Are you happy with how the Japanese publisher is addressing this situation? Might make me jump to pro but holding out for midnight black onePlayed the opening mission on Pro.It is definitely more monster hunter and unfortunately I have never been able to get into the loop of the series.I like the art style and the character designs but I’d be interested in the resolution because it looks pretty rough round the edges. Shouldn’t stop anyone playing it though.@Medic_alert The beta doesn’t have the Pro patch. That will come day one. I’m getting it regardless but very curious about the difference.Am I missing something. I played the beta and did the on rails opening and then beat the boss and it ended? Is there more to it?On a side note MH has always been a game I’ve wanted to enjoy but I’ve never liked how much of a damage sponge the bosses are. I know that’s probably part of the appeal but it gets really tiring chasing them around a map for 30mins. It’s a shame because if it didn’t take so long I’d enjoy the series I think.@Splat fair enough. I’m sure the final product will be all polished up. Capcom have been good at that in general. It actually happened lol. That’s a win in my book. They didn’t have to do it. More time to try out different weapons against Rey Dau and Arkveld before releaseI’ve heard two things about this beta one it’s combat feels weightless and two it needs a performance fix@Judal27 Just keep in mind that the overhauls in weapon balancing changes are not present in the beta until release so they might feel different.Safe to assume wilds beta crashed psn… kiddingThey really need to release a demo with full Pro enhancements. I use demos to confirm if technicals are up to a suitable level, so not much point here.Good that it’s “at a future date” because, although I’m not planning to jump into it, a full Monday is different than a full Friday. People might have taken off early to play and can stay up later on a Friday. So I think they’re taking that into consideration. That’s nice of them, not being their issue even.@Rich33 just wait for the inevitable DF comparison videoThat’s cool they’re doing that@Mikey856 Thats the next best thing, but I tend to look for a higher level of / far more consistent performance if I have to go based on a video, rather than just being able to play it and see for myself if its acceptable. There a fair few games like SH2, BMW, and others I decided to ignore based on DFs review, which on playing a proper demo I might have found acceptable.@Rich33 fair ply mate. I do usually find DF’s videos incredibly helpful on making a decision on a game lolI was able to complete the initial hunt and then several others in the open area of the field. I don’t know if extra time is necessary, but definitely welcome. Playing through Monster Hunter Rise last month definitely got me ready, as I only carted once when fighting an electric dragon after beating 3 other monsters. Sword and Shield is my new favorite.@Kiefer-Sutherland There’s more after you beat the initial boss (Chatacabra). Alma at base camp will unlock you the Doshaguma quest, and once you beat that you’ll be able to take on other bosses too (Balahara, Rey Dau, Gypceros and Arkveld).I honestly didn’t think Capcom would consider a beta extension, but that’s sweet they’re doing it anyway. That said, I’ve had my beta fill for this weekend, and not sure how many more hours I’ll put in for the next. But I’m hyped for the full release regardless!@Styledvinny79 The essence is there just hope performance is improved greatly in full release, this is a first impression for a lot of possible newcomers and this isn’t a great first impression@Drago201 that’s because it’s basically the same build as the last beta. They’ve already said they’re making changes 👍 same goes for performance. The Pro mode wasn’t included either.@Rich33 I’m hoping the next beta with have the Pro mode included. Surely they can’t release the same build 3 times 😂 I’d imagine they’d want to test some of the changes they’ve made before release.@Loamy I know it takes them time to do demos, but I dont want to have a bad 1st impression of the game, if Pro enhancements arent in there / it isnt a current enough version.I have been playing Pro enhanced games for 3 months now, and its them that it will be ‘competing’ against in a way – and im sure this isnt just me.I have also already heard enough bad about the base PS5 performance mode.Lies of P and Dynasty Warriors Origins were both games that come to mind as examples of where I preordered immediately after playing the demo’s, and maybe I might have bought other games that were either not covered by DF, or a bit borderline (mainly in terms of 60fps lock) in their (DF) review, if I had chance to try them out.BTW I hope you managed to complete your protection mission in the end!@Mikey856 Oh, I do too – after SWJS (and its launch state illness inducing framerate) I never preorder/buy without either a demo, or a clear bill of health from DF etc, unless its Sony 1st party which are always really polished. But, you cant beat a good demo!@Rich33 yeah it’s the ultimate test really. Are you a ps plus subscriber because there are tons of free trials these days. I seem to remember last gen or gen before where demos really dropped off but they are certainly back now. I know what you mean about 1st party stuff. 99/100 its a safe bet@Mikey856 Unfortunately, I am just a lowly ‘Essential’ subscriber so not many free trials for me! (Meant jokingly)Demos really are a good way for developers to sell good games though – DW Origins demo had me immediately preordering!@Rich33 I agree man. Weird they haven’t bothered including any improvements or the Pro mode 🤔. Ive been playing the beta in quality mode (and 120hz) on Pro and performance is all over the place, ranging from 48fps up to 78fps even in low-stress situations. Definitely not a good first impression visually. I’m a huge MonHun fan though so I have the game pre-ordered regardless. And yes I did! It literally took over 20 tries but the NPC finally calmed down enough to let me save him 🤣Very nice I’m loving mh beta and the 5 extra days from sony for ps sub !Also it’s running fine for me on base ps5.@Loamy capcom will definitely release a pro version like they have with dd2.@Proxy_One this is most likely because you don’t notice the performance issues, not because your PS5 is faster than others’ 😂 to be fair, I was alright with Dragon’s Dogma 2’s performance at launch because the game still handled well. And yeah they’ve said there will be a Pro mode. It’s only a single mode at 40fps though @Shadeon_Koopa yeah same I’ve enjoyed the beta but I’ll skip the next one and just enjoy full game I’ve soloed every monster except arkvield I’d rather fight him with better gear as he hits like a train XDAlso I bet bow gets nerfed it’s so powerful lol@Loamy ah good point ,yeah i was OK with dd2 performance at launch it seemed PC players got it worse bk then I trust capcom to smooth it out pretty fast tho.@Proxy_One yeah I imagine there will be some huge gains. They’ve actually lowered the recommended specs target for PC which is promising 😁Yeah definitely ah that’s good for PC players and should stop them going mad on steam haha.@Loamy that reply was ment for you.@Loamy question is the pro worth the upgrade ?Yes it Was about the pro loamy.@Loamy Er, I doubt many bought Pros for 40fps modes! Dont really know what someone was thinking when they came up with that one, but they haven’t exactly been listening to Mr Cerny!I will have to see how the framerate behaves / visuals look on Pro after their general improvements in any mode that runs at more or less 60fps or higher – anything below will sadly just make me feel ill.Glad you got your problem NPC under control! Lol@Proxy_OneIn general, its been very worth the upgrade with some well enhanced games looking / performing night and day better than base PS5 – Youtube videos etc just dont do the difference justice at all. But as with all things these days you do get devs that put more effort in than others!@Rich33 honestly I’m alright with 40 or even 30fps but that’s only if the visuals are a vast improvement. Obviously I’ll go for higher frame rate now I have a Pro for the majority of the time as the difference is usually so minor compared to some of the incredibly rough-looking performance modes on the base model. Playing games like Stellar Blade and Horizon in their 120hz modes is absolutely stunning 🤤 Kingdom Come has been another stellar upgrade for the Pro as well 👍@Proxy_One I’d say it was definitely worth the upgrade for me. I was becoming unimpressed with some of the image quality results on the base model, especially in the performance modes (Games running at sub-1080p with poor upscaling). Even the quality modes were struggling in heavy games like Alan Wake and Avatar. The Pro has sort of spoit me now that I’m used to a 60+ frame rate and games tend to match the base PS5’s quality mode or exceed it. Frame rates are also much more stable. However, I wouldn’t recommend the Pro unless you have a 120hz TV 👍Good on Capcom for doing this for players that couldn’t play the beta due to the outage.Pretty excited about PC performance in demo 2. Arkveld is an annoying fight for SA/IG/SnS because those weapons remain unbuffed and you really need to gather Parashrooms and bowgun-buff yourself to help with the timer. As for the regular PS5… gotta hope they optimize it better or give a nice settings option that gives you decent visuals @ 40fps. Pro should be very good.@Drago201 i’m pretty sure a ps5 pro patch is coming on release.I heard the beta runs and looks like garbage. Any unbiased hands on accounts?@Shadeon_Koopa You don’t even have to talk to Alma after beating the first Chatacabra, you can simply go out into the world, open the map, and set a field survey (quest) for any roaming monster.I think the far more open ended structure than usual is throwing some folks. You can play it like the previous entries, talking to the handler/quest-giver to initiate hunts, but they want you to just stay out in the world without going back to camp (or setting up a remote camp when needed) as much as possible.@KundaliniRising333 It seems like the game will be good on 3070ti or better and PS5 ProThey’ll have to pull a rabbit from a hat on final release optimization for weaker hardwareAnyone complaining about how it plays on higher-end hardware just wants to bitch and moan on the internet, it’s easy to tweak settings for good visuals at 60 fps@Loamy I will keep my fingers crossed for this one having something for both of us (when I say ill at much less than 60, I am unfortunately being literal, not figurative), and an updated demo/trial! Quite agree with SB and HFW, and while Im still undecided about KC2, it has nothing whatsoever to do with visuals/performance! From the tech reviews Ive seen it looks fantastic.Nice! Was hoping they would extent the current beta.Managed to defeat Arkveld with 3 other randoms. Now back to character creation.I tried it. But I felt some of the world iceborne frustrations coming back.
Also the whole must start an online single player just upsets me. It did in world and it did here. What’s wrong with village and hub quests? I don’t want daily rewards and don’t want my MH to feel like a live service.I tried both betas on PS5, both times gave up within 15 minutes due to the terrible perfomance (perfomance mode seems to have a terrible frame rate rarely getting anywhere close to 60fps, and the image looks appallingly blurred and filled with jaggies) – maybe there’s a great game under there to be enjoyed on a future console or if it gets drastically optimised later, but for me, I’d rather play Rise or World with their non-headache/eye-strain inducing framerate/resoltuion, than suffer such awful perfomance just to have more foliage/weather/draw density/creatures onscreen/whatever is making it run so badly at the moment.@soyabean135876 You were never getting better performance or improvements with this beta as its the same older build as the beta from last year. The final release will be running on a newer better build that should be much better and also have the Pro improvements as well. Its why i skipped this beta.@DennisReynolds Yeah… the final release is also full price and there’s no guarantees they will follow though with that promise.
So… it’s best to wait and see but tbh I was not impressed with the game itself.
I think I will wait for the next one. I much preferred Rise Sunbreak to world iceborne.
