The extra days will automatically be added to members’ accounts.“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue,” Sony said in a statement. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience.”Unfortunately, the company stopped short of elaborating on what caused the outage, which lasted about 24 hours. This kind of lack of communication is precisely what some users have taken issue with.“Sweet, but can you also tell us what happened and how you’ll be working to avoid it in the future,” one user said on X. “I just need communication, that’s all,” added another user. “If we’re gonna make this work, we have to work on communication.”“PlayStation deserves a boycott,” said another user. “This network outage keeps reoccurring over the years. Completely unacceptable, Sony.”Other gamers saw an opportunity to demand further compensation, noting that five days doesn’t seem like a proportionate response for their trouble.“Five days of PlayStation Plus as an apology? That’s like getting a small fry after they mess up your entire order,” one poster complained. “The fact that one of the largest companies in Japan only gives us 5 extra days of service for PS Plus members instead of something more generous like a free game or a $50 PSN code is hilariously greedy,” chimed in another miffed user.Sony hasn’t offered any compensation to PlayStation users who aren’t PS Plus subscribers, even though the outage affected them as well.Gamers without PS Plus subscriptions reported being unable to turn on their consoles or access free-to-play games like Fortnite and Warzone.“Not saying they have to actually offer anything, but five extra days of PS Plus doesn’t really make sense for the millions who were affected but don’t subscribe to Plus,” one person said. One Community.
