Christy Carlson Romano is recovering after she was “shot in the eye” by “another party” during her husband’s birthday celebration.
The Even Stevens alum shared, in an Instagram post Saturday, that she took her husband to shoot clay pigeons as a present. While they were doing that, she was shot by “another party” who “unsafely fired in the wrong direction,” as she revealed in the caption.
She was hit in five places, she wrote in the caption, but “one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”

Though she’s now “safe” and can “see normally,” she said, she’s still being monitored by doctors because a fragment is still stuck in her eye and another is lodged in her forehead.
“Unfortunately,” she wrote in the caption, the fragment behind her eye is “too risky to remove surgically at this time.”
She expressed her gratitude for the first responders and staffers at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center along with her husband, who she said, “immediately sprung into action, assessed me and rushed me to the hospital.”
“I’m very grateful to first responders as a whole. I mean, they’re just the most amazing, superhero people to take care of us at our most desperate times,” she said in the video posted to her Instagram account.
And she’s thankful to have survived the ordeal.
“With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive,” she wrote. “I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”A post shared by Christy Carlson Romano (@thechristycarlsonromano)Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySubscribe for full access to The Hollywood ReporterSend us a tip using our anonymous form.
