‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’ Is Setting Playercount Records Every Day – Forbes

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2The launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has been enormously successful, the game racking up great critic reviews with an 88 metascore across PC, PS5 and Xbox, pretty remarkable consistency. That makes it the second highest scored PC game of the year (first is the PC release of FFVII Rebirth). Second best on PS5, albeit to Citizen Sleeper 2 which only has 7 PS reviews in, and a clear first on Xbox in 2025. Very good.As a result, we are seeing players flock to the game, especially where we can track it best on PC. We are also seeing something that does not usually happen, in that the concurrent peak playercount for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has gone up every day since launch, and is hitting new peaks as I currently write this. The trend:And now that the weekend has hit on February 8, here it’s rocketed up to 233,000 as we speak, and is still climbing higher. That is a 46% increase since launch, which is something we rarely see, as many games can and will peak on release date itself.Kingdom ComeThe game is a sequel to the well-liked Kingdom Come: Deliverance which was released in 2018. That did not review as well back then, a 76 on PC and 68-69 on Xbox and PS4. But developer Warhorse Studios sees this current reception as vindication, and now critic scores better match how fans feel about the series. The second game currently has a 90% “Very Positive” score on Steam, which is no small feat. It also sold a million copies in 24 hours, which is an impressive feat in the current market. We are one month into February, so it is way too early to talk about GOTY, as this is allegedly the year GTA 6 releases, but hey, who knows for at least the shortlist. These are great scores and it’s well-liked by almost everyone.I would view Kingdom Come: Deliverance II as yet more Baldur’s Gate-style evidence that people do not want “shared world” or live service games in this genre, as we’re seeing a critical, audience and a sales hit from a smaller studio and series that has done great work and pleased everyone.
