Drew McIntyre reportedly set for SmackDown, and a very interesting match – Cageside Seats

Filed under:And somewhere down the road after that, a very interesting feud. Possible SPOILERS below.By all accounts, Drew McIntyre was legitimately upset with how his elimination from the men’s Royal Rumble went down last Saturday. He missed Monday’s Raw, and another recent rumor said McIntyre is set to feud with someone who just “transferred” to SmackDown, Damian Priest.WWE said the transfer window closed with Royal Rumble weekend, so we’ll see how they explain Drew’s move to the brand — maybe that thing TKO Board member Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson told McIntyre he’d “take care of” for him at the Raw Netflix premiere? We could get that explanation tonight (Feb. 7), because multiple WWE sources told PWInsider’s Mike Johnson that McIntyre is expected to be at this week’s SmackDown in Memphis, and that his move to the Friday night show “will finally be made official very soon”.Johnson’s report also said that McIntyre & WWE have been in communication all week, so it would seem hard feelings from the Rumble have been addressed. Another sign? WrestleVotes tweeted that Drew will be in tonight’s main event, wrestling LA Knight and Jimmy Uso in a Triple Threat Elimination Chamber qualifier. Knight was the person McIntyre was supposedly upset with in Indianapolis.Source: Both Men’s & Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifying matches will take place on #SmackDown, with tonight’s main event scheduled to be a triple threat:Drew McIntyre vs LA Knight vs Jimmy Uso.And that’s not all! The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter also reported that McIntyre is SmackDown-bound, and has also heard that a feud with Priest is up first for him there. Beyond that, WWE has even bigger plans for the big Scot. Dave Meltzer writes:There is also a plan right now to get to [Cody] Rhodes vs. McIntyre, which was scheduled for 2023 before Rhodes ended up not winning the title that year.Given multiple reports of a different WrestleMania plan for WWE champion Rhodes, we’re guessing that feud would come after Cody’s done in Las Vegas… we shall see.Thoughts on Drew McIntyre to SmackDown, and the imminent and longer term rivalries he could have there?
