Josh Allen’s acceptance speech for MVP will be quoted forever in Buffalo – Buffalo Rumblings

Dion Dawkins, who has been championing for Allen all season, was on hand Thursday night to tell the world why and then to wrap his quarterback in the biggest hug when the Buffalo Bills quarterback took the stage to accept the trophy. Allen, as should be expected, however stole the show with his acceptance speech. Allen said that they were all very deserving of the award and that he was looking forward to sharing the gridiron with them for years to come. But then, in true Josh Allen form, he diverted the attention from himself and began thanking everyone – including “Slick Rick in the mailroom” for their part in his historic season. Allen started at the top of the organization with owners Terry and Kim Pegula and general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott thanking them for “drafting him” saying it felt like just yesterday that he was joining the Bills for the first time. “I know this is an individual award and it says Most Valuable Player on it, but I think it’s derived from team success, and I love my team,” Allen moved on to thanking everyone from Dion Dawkins who was presenting him the award to the equipment staff to the guys in the cafeteria. “We got such a great locker room in Buffalo, and it takes everybody.” The MVP then moved on to thanking his family, saying that his parents had been there through it all from Pop Warner to high school, college, and now the NFL. Allen said that he doubted they had missed more than 15 games in his entire lifetime and thanked them for all the sacrifices they had made over the years. Of course, he wasn’t going to leave out his new fiancé. Allen addressed Hailee Steinfeld, letting her know she was his “rock and best friend” and that he felt he wouldn’t be standing on that stage in New Orleans if she hadn’t been by his side all year.
