Take-Two’s “Longstanding Relationship” With Nintendo Seemingly Set To Continue – Nintendo Life

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpCivilization VII is out this month on SwitchMultiple third-party video game giants have commented on the Switch 2 since its official announcement, and now Take-Two Interactive has voiced its support.During a call with investors, the company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick referenced Take-Two’s “longstanding relationship with Nintendo” and while there’s “nothing specific to report” at this stage, it sounds very promising as we get closer to the release of the next-generation hybrid hardware:Strauss Zelnick: “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Nintendo and we’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release. There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. Now with today Switch and potentially Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience. As you may have noticed, Civilization 7 is now available on Switch. While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch.”As referenced, Civilization VII launches this month on the Switch – so this appears to be enough evidence of Take-Two’s ongoing support and commitment to Nintendo’s platforms.Take-Two is also the same company behind Rockstar (Grand Theft Auto), 2K (Borderlands), and the mobile developer Zynga (Star Wars: Hunters). Apart from Civilization, during the Switch generation we’ve seen titles like the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy and the Borderlands Legendary Collection.According to Take-Two’s latest update, GTA VI is also still on track for a ‘Fall 2025’ release. These comments from Strauss Zelnick follow EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson voicing support for Nintendo’s upcoming system. But remain tight-lipped otherwiseNew entry launches this month”It gives us the ability to access and acquire new players”What games from Take-Two’s library would you like to see on Nintendo’s Switch successor? Let us know in the comments.[source nintendoeverything.com]About Liam DoolanLiam is a news writer and reviewer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox. Who knowsYou know, Animal Crossing could use a change of pace. Maybe these guys could have a hand in developing a spin-off game. A game that would allow us to exact revenge on the villagers who mistreated us.I’m still expecting GTA VI will be the most GAAS that’s ever existed, GTA V’s online you get endless spam phone calls about spending money on things and this was something bolted into the game years later while GTA VI will have this in its DNA, I don’t think expect the single player to be safe from this either considering they stopped adding anything to V’s to funnel people into Online where they can use real money to buy things. At least it’s not unprecedentedGTA 6 wasnt a dream is TRUE Native portI’d love GTA6 on Switch 2Well Take Two where only investors for GTA and Co.@AG_Awesome Nintendo caused DMA Design (name before Rockstar North) to go bankrupt during the N64 era. There’s a lot of bad blood there, which is most likely why they rarely focused on any main entries for Nintendo’s systems. I imagine as the old guard retires, and Take Two increasingly applies pressure that will change in due time. With the Switch’s successor on the horizon, do you think Take-Two will bring bigger and better games to Nintendo players?I think we could see GTA 5 on Switch 2, 6 would be too far a stretch I think. Hoping they patch up Civ 7 with Switch 2 support too (I think theres a good chance) so that you can play on larger mapsLongstanding maybe, but not a particularly healthy relationship considering not only the comment about Nintendo platforms being “really geared at younger audiences” (the higher rating gamings present on practically all Nintendo systems disagree, not to mention those aimed at more “casual” players even though it’s most likely not what they meant), but also and especially the lack of several notable games even on Switch starting with the obvious GTA 4 for sure and 5 if possible!Judging by the headline and the picture, I thought they were announcing a Chinatown Wars port for the Switch LOLWhich wouldn’t be bad because it’s an awesome game!!!You know what this means? A new Carnival Games instalment is coming to Switch 2!GTA V and RDR2 on Switch 2 would be fantastic.Corporate PC speak, of course they’ll say that.More GTA games on Switch, including the PSP games and they can port the mobile version of Chinatown Wars too (though they should already have done these for the OG Switch).A GTA IV port (perhaps also on other modern consoles) is long overdue, and would be revelatory on a Nintendo console (serving as the game’s handheld début). It’s also ridiculous that GTA V is still absent, even on the OG Switch, considering that Rockstar got it running on the PS3/360, but if they are thinking of porting GTA Online as well, then make it an optional download (be it via download code, as a separate launcher, or optional DLC for GTA V), and not consolidated into GTA V game itself for those who do not want to waste storage space. Now there’s the only example that I can think of where a mandatory download for a physical release would be appropriate given how often Online is updated. And I’m dying for Bully, complete with the glorious return of motion controls from the Wii version (though they can make it optional for handheld mode and/or for accessibility’s sake).@SillyG All of this plus the GTA IV expansions. Get the whole of GTA on Switch 1 and/or 2 and take my money”While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch.”Fully?? I don’t actually expect to see GTA6 running on Switch, but these words imply the opposite… We’ll see if Switch can properly run that game, it would be crazy!“ There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences”Strange statement. Their target audience has been the same since the Wii.And before the Wii, their systems were more aimed at hardcore players, not kids.@AG_Awesome What about an actual playable GTA Trilogy on one cartridge with no download fixes@Bunkerneath lol. Let’s not get TOO crazy here 😂🤣😜😜Nvm the big open-world GTA’s on Switch… I’d prefer a new top-down GTA ala Chinatown Wars on Switch.
