The cultural icon went into Sunday’s Grammy Awards with 11 nominations, ultimately claiming her rightful throne in music throughout the ceremony as she continued to break records.
The most-awarded Grammy artist in history (she set that record in 2023 with her album Renaissance), she extended her record when she won three awards, bringing her total number of trophies to 35.
To conclude the night, Beyoncé finally won album of the year for Cowboy Carter after years of being nominated for the top award. The win gets rid of her “record” as the most nominated female artist without a win in the album of the year category. (She was previously nominated for I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade and Renaissance.)
“I just feel very full and very honored. It’s been many, many years,” she said when accepting the award. “I just wanna thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work. I want to dedicate this to Ms. [Linda] Martell, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors. God bless y’all. Thank you so much.”
She also became the first Black woman to win the best country album Grammy for Cowboy Carter.Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySubscribe for full access to The Hollywood ReporterSend us a tip using our anonymous form.
