NVIDIA Smooth Motion Will Be Available On GeForce RTX 40 GPUs Soon, Frame-Gen Enablement Via NVIDIA App – Wccftech
NVIDIA’s recently introduced Smooth Motion technology will soon be supported on GeForce RTX 40 GPUs. enabling frame-gen on all games. For games that don’t have support for DLSS, NVIDIA has come up with its new solution that competes against AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames. We reported yesterday about Smooth Motion, which is AMD’s technology for adding more smoothness to the gameplay. The option can now be found in the NVIDIA App under the DSR – Factors option but needs the latest Blackwell GPUs.As you can see, you can only turn on the Smooth Motion on the GeForce RTX 50 series, but thankfully, the support will be extended to the GeForce RTX 40 series as well. DSO Gaming reports that NVIDIA has confirmed its expansion to the RTX 40 series, but we don’t know if it will be supported by previous-gen RTX GPUs as well.NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a brand-new driver technology and requires time for validation and QA across multiple products. Support for GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs will be coming in a future update.- NVIDIA via DSO GamingTill now, NVIDIA didn’t have such a feature for its customers who owned the RTX GPUs, but things have changed as NVIDIA finally has an alternative to AFMF. The Smooth Motion technology will add another frame between two frames in games to offer better smoothness in gameplay. The games don’t necessarily have to bring DLSS support and can add the additional frame itself by utilizing a driver-based AI model.NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a new-driver AI model that delivers smoother gameplay by inferring an aditional frame between two rendered frames. NVIDIA Smooth Motion is available for DirectX 11 and Direct X 12 titles on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Enable this feature via Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings. We don’t know how it performs in comparison to DLSS Frame Generation, but it’s easier to say that it won’t be able to compete with the more mature and advanced DLSS method that has been developed over a good period. Moreover, DLSS is integrated by the developers and is more optimized than Smooth Motion. Still, Smooth Motion will be an excellent option for games that struggle to run at a high fps number and don’t support DLSS natively. Some posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
