Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Updated On Xbox, Second Update Arriving Next Month – Pure Xbox

Team Ninja has announced the first patch (Version 1.0.6.0) has today gone live, but there’s also another interesting update.Apart from a patch for the Microsoft Store version of the game “to fix the issue where super-resolution” can’t be selected, there’s also apparently a “mid-February” patch on the way that will include some balance adjustments and additional features:Team Ninja: “Based on the feedback received, we are preparing a patch aimed for release in mid-February with some balance adjustments and additional features.”Nothing has been elaborated on just yet, so we’ll let you know when we hear more. For now, here are the latest patch notes for today’s patch from the developer’s website. We had a quick look at this update ourselves, and it’s a small one at around 1.7GB on Xbox Series X.- Fixed an issue where the options for DLSS and XeSS would not appear when selecting super resolution type on the Microsoft Store version of the game.- Fixed an issue that in rare cases made it impossible to progress after defeating certain bosses. If you haven’t already given this latest version of Ninja Gaiden 2 a go, you can purchase it from the Microsoft Store or download it on Xbox Game Pass. As for the fourth entry, it’s targeting a Fall 2025 release and has apparently been in the pipeline for quite some time now.A shadow drop for this Unreal Engine 5 remasterThe project was officially announced this weekHave you tried out Ninja Gaiden 2 Black yet? One is the Statue of Liberty and the other is a giant Buddha statue. Both felt pretty weird imho, and not very fitting with the game, though ymmv. There’s also a few less costumes than in Master collection / Sigma 2.But the biggest difference is the difficulty compared to Black. This is subjective and depending how you see this, it’s either:Personally I lean towards the former, the difficulty spikes could be brutal, and not that fun imo. but purists will feel differently, neither is wrong. It’s not based on the Sigma version, it’s based on the OG 360 version with some tweaks, probably number of enemies/hp etc. It’s significantly easier than the Xbox 360 version but in my opinion works great as an entry point for those less familiar with the franchise or the action genre. I’d recommend this over Sigma, original NGII through backwards compatibility is still the best version though in my opinion.@themightyant I agree on the difficulty. I actually did complete the original at release on two difficulty settings (which is unlike me to be honest), but not sure in my advancing years if I would still have the patience. The easier difficulty is, imo, much more fun. It isn’t so easy that you can button mash your way through – you still have to play the game properly. But, you get to act like an unstoppable ninja killing machine more easily. It’s well judged, and with the original difficulty still if you want it, then everyone wins.@Scrubchub I agree. Though it’s not JUST the difficulty settings, many areas have reorganised enemies, and sometimes fewer enemies to even out those spikes. Again I personally think this is sensible, but I can understand why purists wouldn’t like it.@FishysenseiNo, I meant this one doesn’t have the bosses from Sigma, so that’s why I found it weird that you called it a Sigma remake. What were exactly the changes? Never played the original as I didn’t have an Xbox back then.@themightyantThanks for the info! The Buddha statue was when I knew the game was gonna be awesome. 🤣There’s like 4 versions of the game now counting the Vita one, but I don’t know if that one had extra content.@Lup
I never called it a Sigma remake.
I said that this remaster is based on Sigma, given fewer enemy count, save points seemingly being based on Sigma and other such things.
They have clearly re-added stuff from the 2008 original but considering that one statement from a few years from Koei Tecmo how they had lost the code for the original game, it feels logical to assume that they took Sigma as a base for this new remaster but then re-added in being able to upgrade weapons freely(if able), re-added gore and other such minor things.@FishysenseiNo, no. I meant “it’s weird he’s calling Black a Sigma remake because there’s Sigma bosses that aren’t in the game”. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It’s difficult when there’s so many freaking versions.Yeah, I remember that comment. I see what you mean. I didn’t think about it that way but it does make sense. I feel like they tried to compromise with mixing the two as good as they could with debatable results. Honestly I’m like you but with Sigma. Didn’t really see a reason to continue playing this one aside from the beautiful visuals.Anyone else have weird audio delay with this one? Like a quarter of a second delay@Lup
Thanks for seeing where I’m coming from and also, I do apologize if my comments come across as ***** 😅, most of what I recounted here was based on hearsay and old comparisons that I honestly struggle to fully remember.
Also yes, the multiple versions and re-releases does make it hard to fully keep track of what’s what.Just DL the game last night. I’ll be giving it a shot at some point this week.@xxk7xx I’ve never played the new trilogy of games. So this is somewhat more palatable and easier to get into if you’re not into souls-like crushing difficultly? Either way, I’m going to give it a shake since it’s on GP. I’ve just read this series is hard as hell, so it’d be nice to know what I’m up against before diving in. Thanks in advance.@NintendoByNature Yes, right now it’s the best introduction to the series in my opinion.@xxk7xx awesome. Excited to dive in.@Ocat Damn straight lol.@xxk7xx – Sorry dude but you’re wrong. It absolutely is not based on the 360 version, I have around 3k hours of OG NG2 playtime behind me and know every inch of NG2 backwards. This isn’t that. Not even close.PC modders have already pulled it apart and the code base is Sigma 2. The cut boss fights from Sigma 2 are still in there and have been made playable on PC.@Shigurui send me the links to base code of both. If I see it I can tell.I don’t remember dismemberment being in sigma, to me this looks its own thing, closer to og x360 because of said mechanic and lack of extra bosses but completely rebalanced.I had a quick go last night and it’s just as fun as always, just a bit of a shame it has the typical UE5 poor performance, albeit it was smooth Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…Three Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (January 28)Including two ‘day one’ launches!Multiple Xbox Game Pass Titles Seemingly Leaked For February 2025Next month is shaping up very nicely! These 20+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (January 27-31)A big week for Xbox Game PassThese 13 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (January 22 – February 4)Including another Ubisoft addition!Deals: Lots Of Major Games Reduced By 90% In The Xbox Lunar New Year Sale 2025We’re being spoiled with INCREDIBLE discounts!Game ProfileTitle:Ninja Gaiden 2 BlackSystem:Xbox Series X|SAlso Available For:PS5Publisher:Koei TecmoDeveloper:Team NinjaRelease Date:Xbox Series X|SWhere to buy:Buy on Amazon
