Here are the latest patch notes in full (via Bethesda’s Slayers Club):On this page: DOOM + DOOM II Switch Update 2 Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch NotesUpdate 2 adds Multiplayer Mod support for DOOM + DOOM II and game improvements/fixes!If you haven’t checked out DOOM and DOOM 2 yet on the Switch, id Software rolled out an enhanced re-release of these classics last August. You can see this version in action in the trailer above and learn more in our previous coverage here on Nintendo Life.More Doomier than everPure Xbox”I mean who doesn’t want that?”Update: Confirmed by MicrosoftWill you be checking out the latest updates? Come on now NintendoLife. 🤦♂️I’ve got these two running at 120fps, 4K, with improved visuals on PS5 and i still can’t get into them anymore. DOOM I&II were awesome back in 93-94′, but they feel like a bit of a cumbersome chore to play these days, even with the cool Yawn Motion tilt aiming. Then again, i can’t stand playing anything in First person on a TV anymore. It’s gotta be in VR with Quest 3 & PSVR2. Takes the FP genre to a whole new level. Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4(Quest 3), Compound and so much more say ‘hi’.Does this apply if you bought the games separately?@SupahM3tr0yd no , but you can download this version for free if you have those@NeonPizza
Are you saying this proves 120fps and 4K resolution does not make a better? ☺️@Scrubelicious
Profs? You mean proves? lol Don’t get me wrong, the 120fps bump is fantastic. it’s essentially a 3 in 1 upgrade, since it reduces 50% of OLED TV motion clarity blur, doubles the frame rate for a smoother experience(Although, this isn’t suitable for all games mind you) and slices your TV’s input lag in half, making the game feel more responsive, snappier and intuitive to play. The 4K resolution bump is solid on larger TV’s, and I love the advanced Motion yawn/tilt sensitivity slider, which was needed from the start. But overall, it just isn’t enough. I’m not finding either game all that enjoyable to play. I’ve been spoiled by VR. lol If DOOM I&II got VR-ified for Quest 3, than I’d totally be all in. As is, if you own a PS5 & a QD-OLED/OLED TV with 120fps, and don’t care for handheld gaming, than the PS5 version is a total no brainer compared to Switch. Although, i think the Switch version is exclusive to HD Rumble, and I’ll admit it’s more satisfying firing your weapon with the Switch Pro Controllers R2 trigger than it is with the Dual Sense’s.The dev’s never bothered to incorporate Haptic feedback or Adaptive trigger support for either game on PS5, compared to other recent optimized Boomer shooter releases like with Quake 1&2. The recent update makes the PS5 version the ‘almost definitive’ version, if haptics & adaptive triggers were actually a thing.Switch versions benefits. >PS5 versions benefits. >so, still no new mods?it’s been ages since the last one “Going down Turbo”@NeonPizza but it didn’t improve the game enough for you to get back into it?I would have liked to see a Map Maker, at least for DOOM II.Some of the best games are now better.@Scrubelicious
It’s more fun to my eyes playing it on PS5 than Switch. Either way I still wouldn’t bother. The only revamped/or optimized Boomer Shooter port that i semi enjoyed(Before dropping out) was the Switch version of Power Slave Exhumed.Didn’t care for Quake 2, or the latest Killing Time: Resurrected either. Although the latter has a fun mid 90’s charm to it, but it’s repetitiveness just drags it all down.Huh, thats wierd, thought I would play abit of Doom this morningLove to see such an update for DOOM + DOOM II specifically and Bethesda continuing to overall embrace mods in general!Still finding bugs after over 30 years? The Doom I played most was Doom 64 but this DOOM + II is also excellent. The exposed abs of Doom Guy was a major safety oversight wasn’t it?A pity. I was hoping for a reformated HUD to better fit the size of the widescreen delay. I guess for multiplayer fans this is an exciting update, but for single player Doomers like myself, there’s nothing really all that great, except for being able to download more mods without that limit.@Jack_Goetz Exposed abs of Doom guy. Yeah. Not exactly tactical. 😊Will still happily play Doom OG today. The genre has vastly moved on with many evolutions and improvements but these still hold up IMO.I bought a switch to play Nintendo games. If I wanted to play portable doom, I can play it on my steam deck.@NolandC you can ignore this article and move on then. The rest us will enjoy Doom on Switch 😎@AshleyGamer64 you could have ignored my comment and moved on but you didn’t..BrutalDoom mod lets goooooooo!!!@NolandC Doom is playable on EVERYTHINGI wonder if this Doom 1+2 Remastered Collection would ever get a physical release. I know there’s already a physical collection of Doom 1-3 already out there but those are the ports and not remastered like these two.
