Testing later confirmed avian influenza type A H5N1.While highly contagious, it was not the same strain impacting dairy cattle in other states.Still, ODA recommended a few ways to keep your pets safe.If your pet does get sick, call your vet right away.Last December, a house cat in Washington County died after eating pet food that tested positive for bird flu. That case prompted the recall of a raw frozen pet food product that was sold around the country.
