Avowed Has Disappeared From Steam Libraries As Its Community Hub Gets Shut Down – TheGamer
Something strange is happening to Avowed’s Steam page, as the Community Hub section has been completely shut down and players are reporting that the game has disappeared from their library.Ever since it was first revealed all the way back in 2020 and set expectations that it was going to be Obsidian’s take on Skyrim, Avowed has had a very strange and rocky development. That reveal made way for years of silence from Xbox on the project, before it was re-revealed as a smaller-scale game and then eventually delayed into early 2025.For the first time in years, I’m expecting to be making heavy use of my Xbox.Things haven’t got much better from there. Despite some positive previews from critics, Xbox has remained mostly silent about Avowed as it approaches its February release date, which is unfortunately sandwiched between other RPG behemoths. Combine that with an ongoing hate campaign against the developers due to the game’s use of pronouns, and it’s not been the best of times for those waiting on Avowed. That long journey has just taken a very strange turn over the past few days. As pointed out by Redditor Turbostrider27 on the pcgaming subreddit, Avowed’s Community Hub page has been completely shut down. Trying to access the hub from Avowed’s Steam page just redirects you to the pre-order section, while searching for it manually doesn’t drag up anything to do with the game.Considering how toxic the Community Hub for Avowed has been over the past few months, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see it removed or more closely monitored. That doesn’t necessarily seem to be the case here, though, as it instead seems like something bigger is going on with the game itself.Earlier today, Redditor GAzvd shared on the Avowed subreddit that the game has gone missing from their library, something that a few players have now reported to be the case. One commenter shared that SteamDB has recently updated the game to remove its early access release date of February 13, before having access to the game removed.Considering Avowed is launching next to Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter: Wilds, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise if it sees a delay. All of this evidence suggests that Avowed might be facing a delay in the near future and that the issues with the Steam page are reflective of this, rather than a sign that Obsidian is trying to stop the toxic discussions. We’ll have to wait and see, but it seems likely that something is going on behind the scenes. No matter how NetEase tries to reset expectations, there will be a lot of disappointment in Marvel Rivals’ future. We want to hear from you! Share your opinions in the thread below and remember to keep it respectful.Your comment has not been savedGood lord… mouthbreathin’ incel gamers ruined gaming. Avowed looks great. I’m so glad I don’t drink Kickstart. Ditto – the haters so obsessed they can’t see the wood for the trees – if they just took a deep breath …Nah, Obsidian literally posted on X a few hours ago confirming that Avowed is officially a month out from launch. They wouldn’t post something like that if it was delayed or cancelled. It is still showing up on Xbox store, and on Battle.netIt’s now the 21/2/25 in the UK and game still not accessible alas? Anyone else able to load it yet?I identify as non-buynary”…an ongoing hate campaign against the developers due to the game’s use of pronouns…” come on George, that’s an oversimplification of the issue and you know it.Seems pretty succinct to me, what context is it missing? It’s a role playing game. A role playing game should have different details with characters that give life to those characters. Is there something wrong with that, or are you just nuance trolling on behalf of anti-LGBTQ, “anti-woke” mouth breathers that want to create an “other” to blame the world’s problems on?Even better that claim just links to a reddit full of A holes lol. Don’t talk to the guy as if you know him personally This game is doomed. Has been since the first delay but.. yeah. Doomed. Just another game built for game pass. It was also probably not wise to go to social media as a developer and announce your malicious intentions. you reap what you sow. What were the malicious intentions? I missed that?Don’t overblow the situation with your attitude.Just do it isnt ever explained… the art director for vowed went on… Twitter? Bluesky? Whatever, doesn’t matter. Anyways, his stance was basically fiercely anti-white. He said they get way too many white guys, so if you were a black artist you can DM him and he will always give you preference over any white people. Blatantly discriminatory hiring practices, and could easily lead to a lawsuit if they actually turned down any white artists that were qualified… especially in this era of DEI dying out. These hiring practices are openly racist and this attitude is toxic af… hard to keep the controversies straight these days. This may be the same dev that openly posted about wanting some non-white person to take his place so he could go off to the woods and fade away. It is highly toxic behavior that is prevalent in the industry today, and hopefully is on its way out. Yeah people just don’t like pronouns in their game which why veilguard was a commercial failure and this game seems to be following along the same self destructive path. There are very few alternatives to making the video game industry sustainable again.Sonic and Dragon Ball have quite a lot in common. That’s equivalent to 14 hours per day, every day since it launched.
