Rumour: Ubisoft Has “More Than Half A Dozen Games” Planned For Switch 2 – Nintendo Life
GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpAn Assassin’s Creed “port” could lead the chargeNintendo’s new console launch is seemingly on the horizon and apart from first-party titles there is also expected to be plenty of third-party support. The reliable podcaster ‘Nate the Hate’ has once again chimed in, claiming Ubisoft has “more than half a dozen games for the Switch 2” planned, with many of them expected to be “late ports” of existing releases:”I’ve been told Ubisoft is doing more than half a dozen games for the Switch 2, and a lot of them are going to be late ports, these are from a range of franchises, like The Division, Rainbow Six Siege, there’s also some discussion and consideration of doing a Mario Rabbids collection…it’s just a question of when will these games come out.””Within the launch window” of the ‘Switch 2’, Nintendo fans can apparently expect to see Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The new title Assassin’s Creed Shadow is also believed to be arriving on the system, but it “probably” won’t be ready for launch:”To my understanding, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of those in development ports, it just won’t be ready for launch, and probably won’t be ready for the launch window.Nate adds how if Ubisoft “can port the game, they will port the game” – linking this to the third-party company’s current “financial issues” and how it likely views the Switch successor as a “potentially lucrative platform” to release as many games as possible on.The Switch “successor” will be announced this current fiscal year, with the latest reports suggesting the big reveal is close by.Though software won’t be the focusWhat games from Ubisoft would you like to see on Nintendo’s Switch successor? Let us know in the comments.[source youtu.be]About Liam DoolanLiam is a news writer and reviewer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox. He’s been writing about games for more than 15 years and is a lifelong fan of Mario and Master Chief.Comments 82Dang, we already getting shovelware revealed for the Switch 2? Crazy.Assassin’s creed.Ubisoft? Armored Core For Answer please.I could take 40 melatonins with a glass of milk after running a marathon and it still wouldn’t put me to sleep as quickly as an assasin’s creed port announcementSo 7. Not impressed!I wish I could be excited. Well, Mario+Rabbids I could. That’s an awful lot of syllables when they could have just said “seven”.I hope the Switch 2 launch is NOT port city. New games please, Nintendo and Ubisoft.@somnambulance it probably will be though. Expect to see a lot of PS4 ports, crossgen PS4/PS5 ports and the occasional PS5 game.Ofc you’ll get some new games. But the games that were released on 8th gen consoles but not on Switch will most likely be released for Switch 2.I mean personally I would like to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage and MAYBE Shadows (still iffy on it) on the Switch 2.Very curious to see how updated Switch 1 games are handled on 2; full price to update? Like, If Prince of Persia gets a Switch 2 facelift and I already owned it on Switch 1… (This goes for all games, not just Ubi)@michellelynn0976 Can’t even be excited for that given the core devs behind those games all jumped shipGhost Recon and 100% Rainbow Six 😁@canaryfarmer : I suspect that third parties may be just a smidge more charitable in that respect, while Nintendo will be Nintendo. Before I believe in Ubisoft’s commitment to the Swiitch, I have to see their commitment to get out of the hole that probably they dug themselves into.Surprised anyone would care about ports of games from Ubisoft on future consoles (especially with most of their more modern games not being well loved by their fanbase) when we have most of their games already on current things and yet they are still failing. The only company from the industry that I don’t care about. And remember:That’s the industry shift that needs to happen. … So it’s about feeling comfortable with not buying their game.Just made few changes to their words here and there. You just focus on staying afloat until Switch 2 arrives, Ubi.Assassin’s Creed is obvious whichever later ones as just the early entries in the series made sense even if in a way 3 and 4 were on Wii U while others the Switch got were fair I guess of collections/remasters/ports. But the Ezio collection, 3, 4, Liberation (Vita) and others sure. But otherwise when it gets to the later entries and them not downscaling the PS4/Xbox One entries was interesting to see. I don’t care either way for the series but it is still interesting to see how far they went. Will we see a Mario Rabbids bundle? Maybe? I doubt a 3rd game as Sparks of Hope didn’t sell well even if it’s ‘such a big improvement’ and was so good it sucks it didn’t sell well. But it was quite late and a bigger scale title not surprised it took that long.Far Cry anything maybe 6 would be a surprise to appear on Switch 2. I mean as if they couldn’t have offered Far Cry 2, 3, (I doubt they care to offer the Instincts/other ones from OG Xbox or Wii to Switch at all) but nothing at all is just weird. Or did they give up on archiving those but Assassin’s Creed they would. XD Why not just try, Yakuza on Wii U sure tried but probably wasn’t right. I mean they need to try hard putting out at least 1 title on the systems.A Red Steel 1 & 2 collection won’t happen or Red Steel 2 VR but Far Cry not on Switch, is it too crazy for Nintendo fans? Clearly not but Ubi are just too lazy.Whatever the case of Tom Clancy games of the past they care to offer/archive. Rayman remasters either. We will have to wait years for a new Rayman 2D or 3D.In terms of a different game happening who knows. Seeing Mario Rabbids was surprising and while I got to them late I love them a lot like Red Steel 2 was so good on Wii. Or ZombiU on Wii U.Ubisoft hasn’t made much I care about other than Mario Rabbids or Prince of Persia these days, Rayman DLC is not something I wanted to see and I’m just buying their old games from different series instead to see what I missed. But the current direction of their games or IP how they could be handled I don’t have much hopes/care for really. Unless they have another Mario Rabbids or Immortals Fenix Rising type surprise I’ve very much not interested in the slightest and not interested in ports.Getting different titles releasing like Snake Pass (got recently I know is on other platforms but still thought of as a Switch title) are great to see, but rarely when we see them from different third parties. And you can bet every title will be a live service, microtransaction, pre-order ultimate gold platinum edition extravaganza.I just want GTA V on Switch 2.Will Ubisoft even live long enough as a company for that to happen?Everyone are now guessing blindly. Those who got right gets worshipped like a god even if they just guessed 1-2 right games of 20.Same crap happened during the NX rumors. That everything will be coming to NX.Not a chance that the FF7 Remake sequel comes to Nintendo’s next condole, since not even PS4 got it. Forget that it (”Switch 2”) will run that gane. So much pure BS speculation which are floating on internet now.And I will buy none of the 11 Assassin’s Creed they have plannedWhat games from Ubisoft would you like to see on Nintendo’s Switch successor?Me: Petz and Imagine games, please. Assassin’s Creed is about the only Ubisoft series I’ve missed the last few years. Hope we can get some more bundles like the ones currently on Switch.Well, I’ve already got The Lost Crown on Switch, and they’ve have already made it quite clear they’re not interested in making another one, so how exactly is this supposed to get me excited? How many games do they have planned for Switch 3?Ah yes, all the games Ubisoft had to skip Switch due to the lack of power now years later becoming available on Nintendo’s newest console likely with less features for 45% more than you can buy them elsewhere where they also aren’t selling.@N00BiSH Dang it. You’re right.Right before they officially become a subsidiary of Tencent.I need Rogue Prince of Persia soon. Please put it on Switch 2.Just Dance 2017Just Dance 2018Just Dance 2019Just Dance 2020Just Dance 2021Just Dance 2022Just Dance 2023 EditionI stopped caring for Ubisoft a long time ago, they’re basically the next EA.@somnambulance You think it’s fair to have AAA games from Ubisoft that won’t be on the Switch 2? You have come to the wrong place.Removed – disrespecting othersHoping for starwars outlaws if switch 2 can handle itThe question is can Ubi even wait for the Switch 2? I hope they can’t.There better be a Rayman game in there! A Rayman 2 remaster is all I’m asking for.I’d personally bend (2nd hand) for a new Xenoblade. I’m dying to play those games at 60fps. So the only way Nintendo could nail this is by having Switch backwards compatibility, with upgraded performance patches for all their mainline games at the very LEAST.Need a new Rayman!!@Keman PS4 was old and Sony was already marketing PS5. Of course they said “Old PS4 can’t run that”PS4 could run it if they actually cared about it. It’s not a very heavy game when it comes to talk about how many characters or things are happening on screen.Get ready for games you won’t be able to play on the go then when Ubisoft requires an internet connection for single player games, even in offline mode.Would love Splinter Cell Blacklist – tried it for Steam Deck but the online requirement meant I refunded it@SuperWidzy with Adhoc support MultiplayerGo away, Ubisoft.Ubisoft needs to be Ubigone…Ubisoft has SIX games planned for Switch 2I’m not a big Ubi fan, but I am excited for lots of ports. To me, being able to play the best PS4-era games on the go is a huge draw.Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Rayman, Far CryGive me all of those.People acting like Ubisoft has never made any great games…Not interested. Been boycotting them for a bunch of years now. Let them rot, just like EA.Lost me at ports!(Honestly I could go for a brand new Battle of Giants game.)If these ports let you skip the Ubisoft account registration, like the Switch version of Prince of Persia, then that would be a killer “feature” for me.Interested in AC Mirage, and could buy it on Xbox or PC, but refuse to pay with my e-mail address when I already paid for the game.As someone who owns a PS5 im not interested in ports of old games, I want to see the exclusives. Shame Square Enix aren’t doing exclusives anymore which means no more Harvestella, Bravely Default and smaller titles that Nintendo took a chance on.It’s Ubisoft, so it will be some old games they port for maximum profits. But Ubisoft is currently in shambles, with all new releases delayed and/or outright canceled. They are hemorrhaging cash.
So it’s to be seen if they are even still around by the time the Switch 2 launches.Good to see they’ve taken the breakup with the Sony and Microsoft fanbases well and are keen to move on with their lives at Ubisoft HQ.I don’t think people are aware what implies that they manage to run properly AC Shadows in the system. That would mean we could be getting pretty much all the big AAA multiplatform games on the Switch 2, at least until the next generation is released. It would be HUGE, guys! I can’t help but being pretty excited here, although I should lower the expectations lol. It’s Nintendo we are talking about. This isn’t surprising, I think much like the switch received many ports of ps2/3 era games, the switch 2 will get ps4 era ports especially if the reports of it being roughly the same power as a ps4 are true. It’s an easy way for the publishers to make an extra bit of money from pre existing games and gives us an opportunity to have some older favourites in a portable format or a chance to play something you might have missed first time aroundNot overly keen on Ubisoft franchises but support is support.Even less interested in EA franchises but wonder what their support for Switch 2 will be? Not really a fan of the Sims games but thought they missed a trick with no Sims 3 or 4 on OG Switch.Don’t want to hear from Ubisoft until they announce a new Rayman game.If the switch2 does have streaming capability (like some of the C button rumors sugest) then I would like to see a Zombie-U port/remake/reimagining/2I’d take Mario+rabbids 3 and far cry…So, seven. They have seven gamesNope not interested in anything other than Zombie S2One of them had better be a new Rayman, hopefully a 3D one.Let’s hope that at least one of them is a new Rayman game or a sequel to Child of Light.Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is one of my favourite games. The sequel I am enjoying less. But why would I be interested in a Mario Rabbids collection if I can play the older Switch titels via Backwards compatibility? Kingdom Battle still looks good to me for a 2017 game. But in general I am not really interested in ports of games I already have on the Switch. I already played and finished them. And when I bought the games I was ok with the performance/quality of the game.New games and ports that haven’t released on Switch yet I am looking forward to.Seven ports that’ll be at least 50% off within two months of launching.I really hope Nintendo is launching with a killer app. Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart solidified the Switch as a must have right out of the gate. If I’m not mistaken, Wii U launched with ports that were well out of the limelight by the time.Again, we’ll see and even more so since it’s from Nate the Hate, but it would be wild if Ubisoft weren’t working on ports for Switch 2 – would gladly do without a Mario Rabbids collection though since that would be a slap in the face to those who have already bought those games on Switch more than anything else considering the successor will have backward compatibility and even more so since I doubt it would have a lot if any new content à la Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance (other than that getting a new release also on the occasion of it coming to other platforms) as the core devs have all left Ubisoft as others have already mentioned…Just give us a Rayman Collection, that is all. I’m not even asking for a new game either cause I know UbiSoft would find a way to screw that up.@rjejr Either everyone else is blinded by the Switch 2 hype, or standards are really slipping here. How in the hell did it take me 32 comments to see Just Dance get a mention?I’d like to play another Watch_Dogs game. I enjoyed the first on Wii U.@Leu10antFalcon No, that’s not what I mean. Surely AAA games deserve to be on the Switch for sure, but, for me, I’m just hoping the launch line-up is focused on new content rather than ports. I get how some people got excited with the initial Switch launch where they said “Skyrim on the go,” but it wasn’t until I saw Mario Odyssey and Puyo Puyo Tetris, as well as other new games like Golf Story, where the Switch felt special. I’m just hoping, when software is announced, it’s a sizzle reel of new experiences rather than the Greatest Hits of the PS4, you know?Loved Prince of Persia the Lost Crown and Sparks of Hope was great so I’m not on the Ubashing train.Ubisoft really supported the Wii U out the gate and I think they made up half my library for a few years so this seems like an inevitability. That said I can’t think of a recent one of their games I’m chomping at the bit to play that I haven’t.Nope sorry guys, Ubisoft is going to be made an example of so other developers and studios don’t keep down this path, their last hope for survival, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will flops, there won’t be a Ubisoft by the end of 2025 and the entire gaming community will be comfortable not owning UBISOFT games anymore.Ubisoft and EVERY studio/developer needs to be reminded who pays their bills and ultimately who their bosses are, Ubisoft and many other studios forgot, but we’ll use Ubisoft as a reminder for the rest of them, their spectre will serve as a warning to others. So unfortunately no Mario & Rabbids games anymore. I assume the full rights will be sold to Nintendo when they eventually fold like a wet napkin when their last hope fails them.Attack your customers, this is what happens.@PinderSchloss It was reported late last year Ubisoft are in the early stages of creating a new Rayman game with Michel Ancel involved as a consultant to ensure consistency within the universe and they are also working on a remake. I would love to see them do with Rayman what they done with ‘Crash Bandicoot’ and ‘Spyro the Dragon’ and bring out a collection of Rayman, Rayman 2: The Great Escape and ‘Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc’ with modern graphics and bonus things. 😀Also, I don’t know if you heard of it but there was a remake of ‘Rayman 2: The Great Escape’ called ‘Rayman Revolution’ on Playstation 2 and it had upgraded graphics along with new areas and new bosses that weren’t in the original game.It is a shame we can’t get an ‘Immortals: Fenix Rising 2.’ I loved the first game and still play it now but there are some very similar looking games on the way that have heavily borrowed from it and ‘Asterigos: Curse of the Stars.’You could tell me one of my friends had died and I still wouldn’t be as disappointed as when I see an Ubisoft article on here.Rumour is Nintendo have at least 10 games planned already! My source? A knack for speculating the obvious!Another rumour: You can play the new device with both hands! 🤣😛how about a watch dogs remaster port for switch 2 love that game on the wii u.I would actually love a Switch 2 remaster of the French Assassin’s Creed (Brotherhood? Union? Something with a U in the name..?)Before it was updated, that game experimented with crowd density, and with the Switch 2’s upscaling feature set, I think they could really dial up all its bells and whistles. Not to mention I also enjoyed its PvP multiplayer at the time.@somnambulance You just have to wait. For now, ported games will be coming to Switch 2… especially games that haven’t been on a Nintendo system.@Leu10antFalcon And that’s totally fine for others. I will just buy very few, if any, of them. We shall wait and see.Honestly, if AC Shadows is just as good on Switch 2 as PS5 though, I’d consider getting it on a Nintendo platform instead. I’m just starting to get antsy to start buying new games again since I’m at a point where I’m wrapping up my 2024 games, and a lot of my planning revolves around what Nintendo does. Switch 2 > GTA6 for my hype levels.@somnambulance What if Rockstar Games confirms Grand Theft Auto VI for Nintendo Switch 2 and the development studios uses 1080p in handheld and 4K maximum in docked mode via DLSS and AI upscaled technology? Not to mention using ray tracing and the option to turn anti-aliasing on or off.
