A major specifications upgrade that Samsung is apparently introducing to all Galaxy S25 models is making 12GB RAM standard for the entire lineup, up from 8GB on the Galaxy S24 family. This change will be significant for running on-device AI models and multitasking efficiently, but according to the latest report, increasing the RAM count is not the only improvement the Korean giant is bringing. Based on the latest information, all Galaxy S25 models will retain support for LPDDR5X memory, but these chips will be mass produced on improved lithography, resulting in efficiency and performance increases.Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is not the only component that Samsung will utilize when it officially unveils its Galaxy S25 series. The Elec reports that the company will also source 12nm LPDDR5X RAM chips from Micron. The lithography has improved from 13nm to 12nm, which brings positive changes to the performance, efficiency, and area. As for why Samsung will not incorporate its own 12nm LPDDR5X RAM chips in the Galaxy S25 family, the report mentions that the Korean behemoth’s technology faced overheating issues, forcing it to source the initial supply from Micron.While Samsung is said to have resolved the issue, it was necessary to secure the initial supply from a third-party entity or else the company would have been forced to delay the Galaxy S25 launch and lose out on whatever edge it had. Sourcing from multiple suppliers is a practice that several companies adopt to keep the supply chain from disrupting, as well as command better component prices by raising competition.Unfortunately, Samsung has been falling behind in this area, which is why its Galaxy S25 range will exclusively launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and will not include the Exynos 2500.
