Nothing is ready to join the big leagues with its first flagship phone – Android Police
Since its launch in 2020, Nothing has primarily focused on mid-range phones. The original Nothing Phone 1 was a great first smartphone from the company, followed by the Phone 2a lineup in 2024. For 2025, the Carl Pei-led company has seemingly set even greater ambitions and is ready to launch its first flagship phone: the Nothing Phone 3.We know nothing much about the Nothing Phone 3 right now, but we have some educated guessesRumors from late 2024 suggest Nothing will launch three new phones this year. It even indicated that the Nothing Phone 3 was due to launch in 2024. However, Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei, pushed the release to 2025 as the company needed more time to develop the phone’s AI capabilities. Now, a leaked internal email from Carl Pei to Nothing employees, as shared by @evleaks, confirms the Phone 3’s debut this year. The device will apparently “introduce breakthrough innovations in user interface, taking our first step toward our AI-powered platform.” All smartphone companies are heavily relying on AI to improve their phones’ user experience, and Nothing doesn’t want to miss out on this. In the same email, Pei teases a “landmark smartphone launch” in Q1, hinting at the Phone 3’s release. While he did not provide a clear timeframe, Nothing will likely unveil its first flagship phone in early March at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, one of the world’s biggest smartphone events.Given that the Phone 3 will be a flagship phone, it will possibly carry a significantly higher price tag than previous Nothing phones. It should also use beefier internals and better camera sensors for better performance. Nothing’s strong focus on design and user experience should help the Phone 3 to stand out from its competitors. The email also details Nothing’s impressive growth in 2024, with Pei claiming it was the “fastest-growing brand in the smartphone and audio industries.” Further, Nothing’s camera and software team expanded by nearly 50% last year, enabling it to build better products.Besides the Nothing Phone 3, Nothing will seemingly launch two more smartphones this year. One of them will purportedly be the Phone 3a, the successor to the Phone 2a. The rumor mill has been silent about Nothing’s third phone, but it could be a budget offering that will succeed the CMF Phone 1.We want to hear from you! Share your opinions in the thread below and remember to keep it respectful.Your comment has not been savedI don’t understand why cell phone manufactures (and computer manufacturers) are pouring all this money into developing their own AI when all we really want is better battery life and a modem that works with all the bands for our provider. AI is already available from a number of sources. Nobody is choosing dell or nothing ai over Google or chatgpt. This feels like the 3D TV or curved flat screen TV tech of this generation. Yeah it’s cool but it’s such a waste of money.I have a Nothing Phone 2 and a Pixel 8 Pro and I find the Nothing Phone to be way more premium.A phone can still be a premium phone if it’s not expensive, lol.I feel like it’s the other way. The Pixel 9 is the second worse phone available while Nothing devices are dead lastI’ve yet to see one in the wild, and that goes for both the Pixel and Nothing Phone! Sadly, it’s all Apple around here. I have pixel 9xl pro been using since September loved it around Christmas went back to my OnePlus 12r and haven’t touched pixel since.pixel is a great phone however everything on the 12 r to me is better outside of camera .now I just got the OnePlus 13 yesterday and it’s safe to say I’m done with all other brands other then OnePlus.S23U owner here – include a zoom lens and I’m all over a Nothing Phone. Have tried a 2A and was really impressed. The Nothing Phone is clean and without bloat. Samsung phones are full of garbage and gimmicks and it feels like a desperate attempt to pull you into their own ecosystem. I moved from my Pixel 6 Pro, to a Nothing 2a. It’s my first non-flagship phone in about 10 years, and it’s fantastic. Clean, usable, fast and $280. At that cost I could upgrade every year and still come out ahead of mainstream device. It honestly reminds me of when I purchased a Nexus 5 for the first time. S20+ is way better. I’m using the Vivo X200 Pro. Beats everything else with the cameras and battery lifeGet rid of the glyth lights, it’s super cheesy. Instead put that into something else like faster wireless charging, battery, or camera.I’m using np1 and it’s a great device. I don’t game on this phone & the mid range chipset is fine for all the tasks but needs at least 3-4X performance in current gen mid range device to get it onto the new np3 or better use sd elite chipset. Price to performance ratio is amazing in np1. Love the camera as well and for night shots I prefer using pixel gcam mod. If only np start delivering a pixel like night shots it will be an unstoppable brand. Also looking for a 6000 mah silicon battery. Don’t want to feel left behind if no silicon battery in np3. I would just like to be able to do what I want with my device. Nothing seems to be heading into the realm of restrictiveness and not openness. That’s simply not what I’m looking for. Gigaset however on the other hand recently launched a device that has it all. The GX6 Pro @cherries I’m truly sorry you feel that way.If it is any consolation I recommend the XPeria Pro – I over all of these devices. But the price is exorbitant even at 750-800 discounted. Please take a look at the GX6 specs mi amigo. Here are some other devices I recommend and why: (in order of recommendedness 😛 )Ulefone Mini 20TEssential PH-1 (triple Bosch sensor)Atom XL (checks almost every box and is small)XPeria 5 III (Peri lense)Pro – ITicktock (original) (checks every box)And many many morehow about you stop shilling a no-name brand and start actually examining other bigger brands properly? even the MediaTek devices from Nothing have dedicated XDA threads with lots of activity, compared to your device which literally no one cares about.Get the 256GB model for $710Or are magnets just not for you?Impressive performance at great valueRead this before buying a new phone chargerWhat would that even look like?Private Space seems to be the culprit
