LG B5 OLED TV release date estimate, confirmed specs & price prediction – PC Guide – For The Latest PC Hardware & Tech News

LG has unveiled all its latest display tech to the world this week, showcasing its entire OLED TV lineup and more. From the main arrivals, the LG B5 OLED TV will be the entry-level model, offering the market a more cost-efficient option – alongside a number of improvements over its predecessor. Although the release date and price of this new TV have not yet been confirmed by LG, following their CES presentation on January 6th, we’ve got some concrete info on the specifications and can make some fairly confident predictions with regard to the other info. The LG B5 OLED TV release date hasn’t yet been confirmed by LG, but given the last two generations of the product hit the shelves in March or April (with some variation on the different screen sizes depending on global region), we expect a similar timing this year. Our prediction is for a March-April 2025 release.Similar to the new C5, the B5 doesn’t have any big upgrades over the previous generation, retaining the same 120Hz Max refresh rate and ‘standard’ OLED panel technology, as opposed to the newer ‘Brightness Booster Ultimate’ panel in the latest G5 OLED TV, or the preceding G4 that has an MLA tech screen for improved brightness.Beyond slight improvements to peak brightness that may come from the more powerful processor and updated firmware, you can expect the LG B5 to be similar in terms of peak brightness to the B4.In terms of the processor, the B5 gets the Alpha 8 Gen 2 chip (an upgrade from the Gen 1 in the B4). The whole TV, however, runs on the same webOS 25 operating system as the C5 and the G5, which has new AI features including ‘smart profiles’ with voice recognition that can automatically set up your apps and visual pre-sets to just how you like them upon hearing your voice. Additionally, the AI Picture Wizard feature allows you to tweak and customize how the TV picture looks to your exact specifications. The biggest change to the B5 is a bit of a regression: LG has confirmed that there will only be two size options this year, with the 65-inch being one of them along with a second, unconfirmed size (though we assume either 55-inch or 77-inch are the most likely). The pricing for the LG B5 OLED TV has yet to be confirmed by the Korean tech giant, however, if we look at the previous two generational releases then we can get a good idea as to the likely pricing of each of the different screen size models. We expect the B5 pricing to be within $100 of the different LG B4 TVs. Obviously, we won’t be getting a 48-inch or 83-inch model this year, however, we’ve included them anyway for the previous gen models. The B5 is the entry-level SKU in the LG OLED TV range, with the C5 being more the mid-tier. In terms of the specific differences, the C5 has a more powerful processor (Alpha 9 Gen 8 compared to Alpha 8 Gen 2) and a higher peak brightness in both SDR and HDR. Although we’re not sure this will carry over to this generation yet, in the previous gen the C-series model also had superior ‘smoothing’ when watching lower-quality content. Besides this, the two TVs are more or less the same, with the B5 being a good few hundred dollars cheaper (though this varies depending on the size you are opting for).Aaron’s laptop knowledge makes him the go-to guy on PC Guide.
