Why Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ Family, Friends Have a Messy Beef Cooking With His Widow Allison Holker – The Root

It seems like there’s major drama brewing between the family and friends of Stephen “tWitch” Boss and his widow Allison Holker and it doesn’t look good.As we told you yesterday, Holker revealed in a recent interview with PEOPLE that she and a close friend discovered a “cornucopia of drugs” in shoeboxes allegedly belonging to her late husband hours before his funeral years ago. (tWitch’s official autopsy showed no evidence of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.) She also shared intimate journal entries of his that alluded to him being sexually abused by a family member during his childhood and the struggles he endured as a result. Now, however, loved ones of tWitch are calling her out for her “classless” comments and making some pretty serious allegations about Holker’s alleged mistreatment of tWitch’s memory, family and friends. The first person to speak out was one of the couple’s close friends named Courtney Platt who broke her silence about Holker and took to Instagram on Tuesday to speak her peace.“Since there’s clearly no shame in being so public, I haven’t said a word in two years but here I go,” Platt captioned in her post in part. She went on to explain how “tacky, classless” and “opportunistic” Holker’s interview was and how everyone who attended tWitch’s funeral had to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). She also alleged that Holker had been treating tWitch’s mother, Connie Boss Alexander, “like garbage” in the aftermath of her son’s death.Describing Holker’s words as a “smear campaign for a buck,” Platt continued:“Here you go and write a book with all the dirty laundry smearing his name and attempting to dim the bright loyal, loving, light that was your husband, my friend. Whether any of it is true or not is actually beside the point. This is how you protect the ‘Boss name’ you so quickly dropped on your social media platforms 48 hours after he passed? His legacy? This is how you protect his children from any further humiliation, hurt and despair? This is what you want them to remember about him?You have moved on, you’re living your life, you’re on every carpet you can get on, every celebrity row you can sit in, every magazine you can be in and you needed to do this? Get a journal, a therapist, a friend…but publishing a book shamelessly sharing the pages of your husband’s journal? People magazine? What a joke…Platt’s sentiments were also shared by tWitch’s brother Dré Rose after he reshared her post to his Instagram stories with the simple caption: “no lies told.”He also reshared a post from YouTuber Katie Paulson who said Holker was “a disgrace and despicable human to do this to a grieving family.”But that’s not all: Former “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Candiace Dillard-Bassett also chimed in on the drama, writing in a tweet on Tuesday:“I’m not even gonna say it. But this white woman is doing everything BUT protecting her Black children and her Black husband‘s legacy. She could’ve kept this in her therapist’s office. SMH,” she said before latter adding in follow-up tweets: “Black men deal with stereotypes around mental health, drug use, alcohol abuse etc and are stigmatized far more greatly for these issues. In my opinion, this is a haphazard and irresponsible way to ‘bring awareness.’ She could’ve just easily taken this story to Essence or Ebony where care would have been taken to share such a tragically intimate story of a Black man’s plight against himself. She could’ve gone into the Black church and called Creflo or TD to help her tell this story. She’s telling the story for herself and not for her husband or her children which I think is the wrong course of action.”She concluded, “The thesis is that care and consideration must be taken when telling Black men’s stories and I just don’t think that was done here.”Though Holker hasn’t directly to responded to any of the aforementioned family or friends, she did somewhat defend herself on Tuesday when a user came for her in the comment section on one of her Instagram posts. After she shared a video of a portion of her PEOPLE interview online, one user and fellow dancer wrote: “This whole thing made me sad. He’s gone. Why tear apart this name? I was fully supportive about you moving in and being happy but this@paycheck was not worth disgracing his name.”Holker replied: ““I’ll always love you. Just trying to help people feel safe to ask for help and support.”From then, she kept reposting other people’s comments that were in support of her and her interview. Whether or not she’ll send a formal response remains to be seen.
