GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpOut on Switch this MarchAnother major release arriving on Switch this March is Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. Konami previously showed JRPG fans the opening trailers and now it’s back with some more gameplay footage. It’s a short scene but highlights a moment where your party is bolstered with more characters. Here’s a look:When this remaster arrives it will come with additional features including 2x and 4x battle speeds as well as an auto-battle option. Konami has also been busy spotlighting the 108 characters from the series on social media in the leadup to the big release:Update: Suikoden II opening now availableAre you looking forward to the return of these games this year? Let us know in the comments.About Liam DoolanLiam is a news writer and reviewer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox. I’ve been saying it for what feels like and might actually be years now.Why are they showing off a scene from the hidden ninja village, I thought it was hidden pretty dang well and had to use a guide to find it when I played Suikoden II lol. But yeah, what a weird scene to highlight prerelease. It’s just a regular dialogue scene. This along with Dragon Quest I & II and Lunar 1 & 2 are going to be sweet. I’m crossing my finger that if Falcom see this that they also gave us Ys I & II Chronicles as well. I know we already got the EGGCONSOLE versions but I much more prefer the remakes.@-wc- I wish all of these remakes/remasters included a “Classic mode” so you could experience the original if you want.@Doctor-Moototally agreed!i think it’s a lot of nerve to assume you can recapture the magic that the greats did generations before you, and that people will eat it up because “new.”there is no humility in the industry and i think that properly preserving classics in any form takes more than a drop or two. ✌️This is M2 making this right? I don’t think Konami would take internal staff away from mobile games/PES to work on a PS1 ROM with a lighting engine put over it.Standing around and clicking through dialogue boxes stretches the definition of “gameplay” a little@-wc- talk about being a debbie downer dude just enjoy the remake of these 2 great classic games..Yeah a bit of a questionable scene to highlight lol. But I hope the remasters end up being worth it, I think the prior Konami classic releases as of late have been just fine. Worst comes to worst the originals always exist.I don’t really remember the dialogue in this scene by heart, but I’m wondering if they did any touch ups to the english dialogue in the game because it could probably use some.I hope you can mute the sound of those dialogue boxes popping up. Majorly annoying. Also hoping for an option to remove the, ‘HD’ layer.Haha I wasn’t going to watch the trailer, but your complaints made me curious I don’t mind the randomness, looks interesting (never heard of the original game). But the dialog box popping sound is grating already, that’s a good point.@-wc- I agree with that random scene. The game was full of so many great moments but that hidden village I’m struggling to remember and I did get all 108 characters. Tbh I was such a fan I’ll probably get this anyway. It’s gonna be a darn sight cheaper than finding the originals again.Stop linking to twitter please!!!I know you’ll be happy to get rid of me but I’m seriously not going to come here anymore if you keep supporting the most dangerous man alive.Looking forward to my discounted physical copy of this which I preordered from my usual retailer here in Italy (didn’t remember when exactly so I checked, apparently around a year ago) – as cool as it would be to also have the originals included, I’ll gladly take this remastered version over not having these games on Switch at all and even more so since I’ve never played them!It looks nice and the song is nice too. I want to recruit everyone.I hope this sells well so we can have Suiko 6-10 to finish the series!@PinderSchloss you could always search for it on Youtube. We both know Twitter isn’t going away anytime soon.@PinderSchloss’most dangerous man alive’cant tell if you are serious or joking lol.@-wc- what changes are they making? No physical pre-order bonus in the U.S. huh? I basically never buy new games, and even more rarely, physically. So that would have been nice. Still getting it though. So yesterday I made a comment about only buying 3 games this year….I’ll have to take that back, I forgot this existed to be honest. I would really love to play this.Apparently the remaster is of only the PS1 version does not include anything from the Saturn version. Culgan on YouTube has a really detailed breakdown of the differences.@Dirty_Croc Yeah I just wish NL would link to YT only. And to whoever doesn’t think this guy is dangerous, just wait.@PinderSchloss I like Nintendo Everything. There are many dangerous people. I get why people fear him because of the robots.Came for the Suikoden sample, stayed for the unexpected political complaints.Removed – off-topic@calbeau game: is not politicalnews: is not politicalusers: fine, I’ll do it myself@-wc- Pretty sure they said there is a classic mode, so you needn’t worry my fellow internetter!Removed – off-topicRemoved – off-topicRemoved – off-topic@-wc- For what it’s worth – I agree with your comments – though your avatar (combined with your comments) reminds me of the time where he says “George is getting upset!”Removed – off-topicWell that was boringRemoved – off-topicRemoved – off-topicRemoved – off-topicI’ve never played Suikoden. Is it about overthrowing an oppressive oligarchy? Stopping an ancient evil, we foolishly believed was stopped generations ago, from returning? Can’t wait to get my hands on Suikoden I & II. Two of the finer PS1 classics for sure.If anyone on here likes Eiyuden, you’ll definitely like Suikoden.@BishopShiozawa I want to like EC but it’s trying too hard to be suiko 2.@johnedwin”talk about being a debbie downer dude just enjoy the remake of these 2 great classic games..”I’m going to do my honest best! I’ve waited this long! ✌️ But I do prefer when they do the stuff i wish they’d do, ya know? 😋Removed – off-topic@LavaTwilight”Tbh I was such a fan I’ll probably get this anyway. It’s gonna be a darn sight cheaper than finding the originals again.”This is my perspective exactly! which is also why I value a “classic mode” so much! ✌️ I’ve been priced out of the second game for years and for whatever reason, while I’m not against emulation, it doesn’t give me enough joy to get all the way through a game like Suikoden.@Fazerminthey, I hadnt heard that but I sure hope so! ✌️👍 thanks!@sfb“George is getting upset!”that’s pretty much the vibe, yep 😊✌️@Purgatoriumyes. 😎I’ve been in two minds about whether I buy this or not. But after seeing that epic and exciting conversation scene in the video above I can’t resist. Such drama!
