Simpson confirmed that she was at the festival in a video on her Instagram story Wednesday, in which she said that she was “blessed to be here.”“I think it’s goin’ go good. I hope,” she added with a chuckle.Simpson played at the Recording Academy’s Austin Chapter Block Party March 12, according to an Instagram video.“I needed to remember who I was and why I wanted to sing in the first place and all the music that inspires me and I need to forget who they told me to be,” the singer said in the video before premiering her new song “Breadcrumbs.”A video on X indicated that the song is from Simpson’s upcoming country EP, “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1.” The user who posted the video said Simpson “sounded amazing,” adding “my stan ass can’t handle this I love you.”Simpson reportedly played some of her past hits as well.Simpson released her debut album, “Sweet Kisses,” in 1999. The album has sold two million copies in the U.S. and contained the hit singles “I Wanna Love You Forever,” “Where You Are” and “I Think I’m in Love with You.” Her sophomore album, “Irresistible,” followed in 2001. The album was certified gold by the RIAA and its title track peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Simpson’s third studio album, 2003’s “In This Skin,” sold three million copies in the U.S. and was supported but the top 20 hits “With You” and “Take My Breath Away.” She achieved moderate success with her four subsequent albums with her last full-length project, “Happy Christmas,” coming out in 2010. Simpson released “Use My Heart Against Me,” the first song off her upcoming EP “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1,” on Feb. 25. “Leave,” the project’s second single, dropped March 7. “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1″ will be released on March 21.
